Anaerobic biological treatment
Anaerobic treatment converts pollution into ammonia, carbon dioxide, water and biogas. Compared to aerobic systems, anaerobic biological treatment works without transfer of oxygen into the system.
AQUA Industrial Watertreatment can supply two different anaerobic processes:
- Anaerobic lagoon
The type of reactor is characterised by a large relatively shallow basin operating under ambient temperatures with long retention tomes of up to 40 days.
- UASB-reactor
The UASB - Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket: In the UASB, the effluent is heated to 30-35°C (85-95°F) for a mesophilic process or to 52-55°C (125-130°F).a thermophilc The dwell duration of the water is short: 8 hours to 4 days.
Due to a limited digestion process, it is often necessary to apply aerobic treatment after the anaerobic process to meet discharge requirements.
