Bacterial optimization (Selector)
A common problem with aerobic treatment is the growth of philomentous bacteria. The result is bulking sludge in the aeration basin or in the clarifier which is not desired as it impairs the performance of the system. Removal of these bacteria groups is impossible when the active sludge - water separation relies on sedimention of the bacteria. AQUA Industrial Watertreatment’s Selector, prevents this growth by creating conditions in the selector, which are favourable for the desired flock-formed bacteria. Philamentous will eventually be eliminated.
Philamentous bacteria groups can cause the following problems:
- Foam formation
- Bulking sludge
- Sludge discharge with the effluent
- Less efficient treatment
- Less oxygen transfer
Bacteria growth depends on the type of production process, the climatologically conditions and the composition of the effluent. AQUA therefore designs specific solutions for each customer.
